چکیده
DOI: 10.5935/abc.20160045 A 21 year-old male patient was admitted with symptoms of exertional dyspnea and palpitation. The physical examination revealed a grade 3/6 systolic murmur, best heard over the left 3-4th intercostal space. Transthoracic echocardiography disclosed a separate chamber (asterisk) in the interventricular septum. The apical portion of the chamber consisted of muscle tissue and the basal portion consisted of membranous and aneurysmatic tissue (Panel A). There was a muscular “tunnel-like” structure connecting the left ventricle and chamber at mid ventricular level. The color and continuous wave Doppler imaging revealed a bidirectional flow across the passage (Panel B, C).

The Two-Chambered Right Ventricle
THE DIVISION of the right ventricle into two chambers by aberrant, hypertrophied muscular bands is a relatively rare congenital cardiac malformation. No reports have been found that describe the details of anatomic structure and hemodynamics in this anomaly, although Keith, Rowe, and Vlad' and Kjellberg et al.2 alluded to this malformation in their texts. Grant, Downey, and MacMahon3 described ...

ANEURYSM of the membranous portion of the interventricular septum is an uncomrnon congenital cardiac malformation rarely diagnosed during life. To our knowledge the literature contains four previous cases.14 Two of these were confirmed at surgery,3' 4 the other two were visualized by angiocardiography alone.1 2 This is the report of an unusual case in which the aneurysm produced hemodynamically...

متن کاملPercutaneous closure of post-traumatic and congenital muscular ventricular septal defects with the Amplatzer Muscular VSD Occluder.
BACKGROUND Muscular ventricular septal defects (VSD) are an important and difficult surgical problem. In the last few years a new alternative has emerged - possibility of VSD closure using percutaneous approach. AIM To present our experience in percutaneous closure of congenital muscular and one posttraumatic VSD. METHODS We treated 10 patients - 7 children (age 0.8-7 years) and 2 adults (4...
متن کاملA review of spontaneous closure of ventricular septal defect.
Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is the most common congenital heart malformation and can be detected during the prenatal and postnatal period, in childhood, and in adulthood. Spontaneous closure of VSD can be determined through a variety of methods-echocardiography, Doppler color flow imaging, angiography, auscultation, and cardiac catheterization-and can be proven by pathological evidence at n...
